New tax preparers must complete 60 hours of qualifying education, and existing registered tax preparers must complete 20 hours of continuing education (We offer this CTEC-approved training course). In addition, you must:   

  • Maintain a Tax Preparer Bond (www.bondsexpress.com or other company) 
  • Register with the IRS and get a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) (www.irs.gov/ptin)
  • Register with California Tax Education Council (CTEC) as a Tax Preparer (www.ctec.org). A New Tax Preparer must have background check completed with CTEC prior to registering as a Tax Preparer (www.ctec.org)


Our class will cover all of the newest tax laws plus the following:

  • Taxable vs. Nontaxable Income

60 Hour CTEC Course

This class satisfy the CA State required 60-Hour Qualifying Education to become a California Registered Tax Preparer. The Live-Instructor webinar is taught by a live instructor who is an EA with over 16 years experience preparing taxes.

20 Hour CTEC Course

This class is for Current Tax Preparers needing to renew 20-Hour CTEC CA State required registration.


Topics Include:

  • Ethics and Best Practices
  • Itemized Deductions
  • Tax Credits
  • Tax Updates
  • Taxation of Business Entities: (Corporations, Partnership, LLC)

20 Hour Self-Study Course

Work at your own pace. Start Anytime. Complete the course from home, or anywhere you have internet access through a computer or mobile device. After you register for this Self-Study program, this course must be completed by December 31, 2023.

Basic Tax Practice Workshop

This workshop is for New Tax Preparers who would like to receive additional training in Preparing Taxes before the tax season starts. 


This is a In-Person 3-Day class that focuses on Basic tax preparation for Individuals, Independent Contractors, and Small Business Owners. Student will receive Tax Return Package Materials on Day 1 of the class.


This is not a required CTEC course and no continuing education credits will be available.  


Cost $225 (Early-Bird) or $300 after December15th, 2022

Topics Includes:

  • Day 1  Getting more familiar with tax forms for Basic Tax Preparation; Review of Taxable Income vs. Non-taxable Income; Utilizing child tax credits & Earned Income Credit; and Exercising Due-Diligence; Know who must file a tax return and how filing status affects the tax return.
  • Day 2  Tax Preparation (Credits & Deductions):  Capital Gains & Losses; Focus on Federal and CA state Itemized Deductions and Adjustments to Income; Other Non-Refundable & Refundable Credits, and understand how to fill out Schedule 3.
  • Day 3  Business Tax Preparation (Schedule C):  Get more familiar with Schedule C tax form and who qualifies for to file Schedule C; Other taxes and form Schedule SE, and understand how to fill out Schedule 2.

Corporations and Partnership

This workshop is for Individuals who would like to receive additional training in Preparing Corporate Taxes.


This is a Live-Instructor Webinar that focuses on Business Formations, Bookkeeping, LLCs, Partnerships, S Corporations, and C Corporations. Student can receive up to 18 hours of CE credit.


This course is offered by Latino Tax Professionals and is taught via live-webinar by 3 instructors: Pascual Garcia, EA, CEO of Golden Crown Tax Service; Ricardo Rivas, EA, CEO of RVR Taxes Corporation; Roberto Pons, EA, CEO of Pons & Associates Inc.

Level I: Topics Includes:

  • Day 1  Bookkeeping for Tax Preparers. Learn Accounting Concepts, focus on Bookkeeping, Depreciation &  Amortization, Payroll, and Sales Tax.  
  • Day 2  LLC, Sole Proprietorship, Partnerships, Qualified Joint Ventures. Line by line review of Form 1065, K-1, General Partnership Agreement, and Advantages/Disadvantages.
  • Day 3  C-Corporation. Formation of Corporation, Business Entities, Advantages/Disadvantages, Structure, and Taxation. Line by line review of Form 1120, and explanation of how to cancel corporation.
  • Day 4 S-Corporation. Differences between S Corp vs. Sole Proprietor/Schedule C. Advantages/Disadvantages, discuss reasonable compensation, tax savings, and examples of converting clients to S Corp. Line by line review of Form 1120S, K-1. Overview of form 2553 and how to select S Corporation status.



Level II: Topics Includes: (Must have completed Level 1)

  • Day 1  S-Corporations. Using Level I example, will introduce more complex issues re: S Corporations, Reasonable Salary, K-1 income, and how distributions are taxed. Compute shareholder's stock basis, and review taxable vs. non-taxable fringe benefits.
  • Day 2  C-Corporations. Level II will advance your knowledge of C Corporations and S Corporations,.  Cover issues on paying tax liability, estimated payments, and a closer look at Net Operating Loan Carryback and Dividends in excess of basis. 
  • Day 3  Partnerships. Focus on complex and mixed partnerships. Present issues on PPP Loans and discus implications of seeing partnership assets and general losses.
